At work – I’m a systems engineer in a sea of cubicles - I happen to sit in close proximity to 3 card-carrying Republicans who are Palin backers.  Tonight I finally got around to watching the Katie Couric/Sarah Palin interview.  Up until now, I have been keeping quiet about Palin during the daily office election chatter because I really haven’t had time to see her in action for more than a minute or two at a time. 

Now that I have seen some extended video of Palin’s recent inverviews, I am actually relieved because I no longer see her as a threat to the Obama/Biden campaign.  She is clearly not ready for the national or world stage, and I think it is really showing through.  Palin’s a pleasure to behold on camera, but the camera reveals her inexperience; at a glance she seems sharp, yet her comprehension of the issues facing the country is dull; she seems the type of woman I’d love to have on my city council or state government, but she is not presidential. 

My Republican friends say they are glad to have a candidate who is plain-spoken, a regular person.  Hey – I like those people too, but I want the president & vice president to be the two smartest minds in the room.  With that said, I will be supporting Obama/Biden.  I just don’t see any other way to go.  I am curious to find out what others have to say.

 So, a little about me.

 As you may have guessed, my name is Curt.  I’m 34, married, and have 3 kids – a six year old son, a 4 year old daughter, and a 3 month old daughter.  I am a systems engineer for a big company in Minnesota.  It’s what I do to feed my family, not what I do to feed my soul.  If I could re-live my life, the only thing I’d change is my occupation. 

 Life has been quite an adventure lately.  I found out last week that my mom has a brain tumor (luckily a very good prognosis, too).  Then a couple of days ago, my son had to have some minor skin surgery, which turned out to be much more painful that we had expected (poor kid).  Then on Friday, my car broke down & I nearly ruined the transmission.  What a week! 

If next week goes the same way, my wife may just find me lying on the floor in the fetal position sucking my thumb.

I’m not sure what topics I will cover in my blog.  I suspect I’ll tell some family tales, rant a bit about work, and maybe voice an opinion or three on issues that are important to me.
